Nutrition & Out of School Time

Today nearly 207,000 children are at risk for hunger in Maryland. During this tough time in our economy, many more families are experiencing food insecurity.

The Maryland Out of School Time Network is an active participant in the Governor’s Partnership to End Childhood Hunger by 2015 (www.nokidhungrymd.org) . The Partnership has chosen to focus on increase utilization of existing federally funded opportunities like the At-Risk Afterschool and Summer Meals.

MOST is working to make sure out of school time programs are aware of the available nutrition programs and also can help connect youth and their families to important resources.  For example, if a young person is eligible for Free and Reduced Meals – they and their families may also be eligible for additional benefits.
